Tackling Aviation Emissions through ETS and National Policy

CO2 emissions from aviation are expected to keep growing in the future after the impacts of the Covid-Pandemic have been overcome. The ambition of CORSIA, mainly compensating emissions growth through offsets until 2035, is not in line with the required effort to stay well below 2°C. This workshop will therefore look at options for national and regional action to curb aviation emissions. A special focus will be on the upcoming reform of the EU ETS which will also address the rules for aviation within the trading system.
