Through a full-day program, I4C will empower 100+ young climate leaders from around the world who are committed to careers in climate action.
Journalists from around the world gather for a media fellowship aimed to train on climate reporting and producing their own stories from an I4C experience.
Where deal-making and the catalyzation of climate actions happen. Take advantage of the I4C platform and engage with meaningful stakeholders from I4C at different events throughout the week.

SUMMIT
At I4C 2023, our plenary sessions will reflect the most pressing, topical issues in climate action and development across finance, markets, policy and technology. Speakers will include global voices from the public and private sectors and civil society.

2023 Workshop Call for Proposals

The Innovate4Climate (I4C) Workshop program is now open for proposals from organizations and companies wishing to host a workshop during I4C 2023.  

Workshops will be held in-person during Innovate4Climate from May 23 to May 25, 2023 at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre in Bilbao, Spain

What are Innovate4Climate workshops?  

The Workshop Program is at the heart of I4C’s knowledge and technical exchange and offers the opportunity to highlight the most innovative solutions, ideas, and initiatives in climate action.   

I4C workshops provide conference participants with practical knowledge and insights from experiences working across a range of relevant disciplines, including climate finance, policy development, carbon markets and carbon pricing, and technologies to turn dialogue into action.   

Hosting an I4C workshop is a fantastic opportunity to reach an engaged, proactive audience committed to accelerating climate action. Last year during a virtual edition of I4C, we held over 50 workshops which were attended by over 6,000 participants from across government, business, financial institutions, and civil society. 

What are we looking for?   

Workshop proposals that fit the following will be considered favourably. 

  • Focused on one of I4C’s key topics 1) climate finance 2) carbon markets and carbon pricing and 3) the Just Transition  

  • Share the ‘how-to’ of innovative climate solutions 

  • Have an expert, gender-balanced and regionally diverse speaker line-up  

  • Have a creative, interactive, engaging format  

  • Have a promotion and communications plan  

  • Are 50 minutes in length  

  • Have speakers committed to attending in-person 

Who can host a workshop?

The Workshop Program is open to proposals from all organisations including those from the private sector. 

There is no fee to host a workshop at I4C, but workshop organizers will be responsible for designing the workshop, coordinating, and securing speakers, leading the workshop in-person, and promoting the workshop with their networks.

2023 Marketplace Call for Proposals

The Innovate4Climate (I4C) Marketplace is open for proposals from the public and private sector wishing to exhibit climate-smart solutions, providing a networking, knowledge sharing, and business development space for practitioners. 

The Marketplace will be held in person during Innovate4Climate from May 23 to May 25, 2023 at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre in Bilbao, Spain.

What is The Innovate4Climate Marketplace? 

The Marketplace is the meeting point where the public and the private sector exhibit climate-smart solutions, providing a networking, knowledge sharing, and business development space for practitioners. There will be around 30 exhibition spaces. 

Hosting a booth at Innovate4Climate’s Marketplace is a fantastic opportunity to reach an engaged, proactive audience committed to accelerating climate action. We expect up to 1,250 in-person attendees from government, business, financial institutions, and civil society. 

Public sector exhibitors will include governments, international organizations, such as the World Bank, the UN, and NGOs. From the private sector there will be green businesses, such as start-ups, energy companies, manufacturers, as well as financial institutions and investors.

What are we looking for?

Marketplace proposals that fit the following will be considered favorably.  

  • Focused on one of I4C’s key topics 1) climate finance 2) carbon markets and carbon pricing and 3) the Just Transition  

  • Share the ‘how-to’ of innovative climate solutions 

  • Have printed or audiovisual material that can be displayed or shared  

  • Have a promotion and communications plan    

  • Have a recently developed project that is aligned with I4C´s main themes 

Who can become an exhibitor? 

The Marketplace is open to proposals from organizations and companies from the public and private sector. 

Proposals will be chosen by the World Bank Group. Companies and organizations will be contacted in early April of 2023 about the application results.

Whether through technology, science, or education, youth apply their skills, passion, and unique experience to scale the efforts in advancing and implementing climate change solutions.

The Innovate4Climate Young Climate Innovators (YCI) Program 

YCI is a platform for young professionals and students aged 18-35, organized by Innovate4Climate in collaboration with the Connect4Climate Global Partnerships Program of the World Bank Group, and the Global Youth Climate Network, a volunteer initiative of the World Bank Group Youth-to-Youth Community, to learn and exchange ideas on their role in scaling-up climate action and climate-resilient recovery through intergenerational dialogue and peer-to-peer engagements focused on the themes of Innovate4Climate. 

For the 2023 edition of YCI, I4C will seek to engage 100+ young professionals, and graduate-level students from around the world committed to careers in climate action, policy, and international development, for a half-day program on Monday, May 22. The YCI will be a hybrid event with options to join in-person at I4C in Bilbao, and to join online for those who are unable to attend it physically.  

 

Why attend in person?
 

Hosted at I4C, YCI is the ideal place to connect and engage with leaders around the world. At YCI you will have the opportunity to

 

  • Network: attending YCI will allow you to meet with private sector experts and World Bank leaders worldwide. 
     
  • Share: Do you have an innovative idea, solution, or a new business proposal? At I4C we give you the  opportunity to present a pitch at the C4C booth located in the WBG Pavilion in the Marketplace.
     
  • Exchange: Actively participate in Interactive Conversations, and contribute to Q&A sessions, I4C workshops, and YCI program, throughout the week.

JOURNALISTS WORKSHOP

 

I4C Journalists Workshop 2023 
 

The I4C Journalists Workshop will be back in 2023 for a hybrid edition on Monday, May 22, 2023 ahead of the opening of Innovate4Climate 2023 in Bilbao, Spain.

The 4 hour workshop designed specifically for international media professionals to delve into the topic of climate finance, providing participants with expert knowledge and tools that can be applied in their professional work. 

Up to 25 participants will be selected to attend the workshop. Climate communication experts and finance/technical experts will provide a comprehensive picture of the global climate financing landscape and help journalists hone their reporting skills on climate change in the run-up to COP28. Following the workshop, participants are invited to attend the 3-day Innovate4Climate conference. 
 

Who should attend?
 

  • Journalists wishing to deepen their knowledge and gain skills on how to report climate finance 
     
  • Journalists committed to attending the I4C event and publishing a story on any of the topics discussed
     

  • Journalists who have published stories in main media outlets across regions
     

  • Journalists and/or communicators with a background in policy and science of climate change 
     

The Workshop will be a hybrid event, however if possible we strongly encourage participants to attend in person so that they can take full advantage of the entire Innovate4Climate program. 

Up to ten participants will receive a fully-funded scholarship for the three-day I4C event in Bilbao, Spain. We strongly encourage participants from the following regions to apply to our fully-funded scholarship: Middle East and North Africa; East Asia and Pacific; Small Island Developing States; Latin America and the Caribbean; and Africa.

Other selected participants are invited to join either online or in person. Participants attending in person will be expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses. There is no fee to participate in the workshop and I4C conference.
