Significant financial resources are needed to address climate change. The blended finance approach aims to catalyze and upscale private capital investments and enhance the collaboration between the public and private sector.

The workshop will discuss the role of blended finance in driving climate mitigation and adaptation interventions for vulnerable communities. Panelists will share ideas on how to unlock, mobilize, and de-risk private capital at scale for sustainable infrastructure, ocean-based mitigation and adaptation strategies, and nature-based solutions. Technical assistance and capacity-building serve to create an enabling environment to incubate a pipeline of investible business models that generate measurable environmental, social and economic impact.

The event will feature a real-life example of an innovate blended finance vehicle – the Subnational Climate Fund (SCF) – which is supported by the Green Climate Fund and managed by Pegasus Capital Advisors. The panelists will discuss specificities of these funds and opportunities for replication and scaling up. In addition, the workshop will feature pipeline companies to demonstrate how impact on the ground can be achieved.
